Convenience and Reliability
The Thor Corn Furnace can be adapted for use
in existing forced air and hot water heating systems through use of
different heat exchangers. The Thor can provide heat for radiant
heating systems (in-floor hydronic, baseboard, or radiators), forced
air heating systems, and hot tap water (with addition of side arm to
your water heater), all at the same time!
Many
users utilize the Thor for radiant floor heating systems in newly
constructed additions, AND for the forced air heat in the already
existing structure!
Much like outdoor wood boilers, Thor Corn Furnace can pipe hot water
to multiple locations, for multiple heating uses throughout your
property.
Advantages over wood:

Corn burns much cleaner than wood. NO SMOKE to annoy the neighbors
or yourself.
2. Corn is easy to handle, none of the back-breaking labor or mess
of wood. A bulk truck can deliver corn to your property with the
same ease as propane, with much less cost!
3. Corn is cheaper than any other fuel! One bushel of corn provides
approximately 392,000 BTU’s of HEAT! This makes corn more efficient
than wood on a cost basis!
Savings Calculations
One
bushel of corn ($2.01/bushel here in Iowa) has as many BTU’s as
about
5 therms of natural gas,
5 gallons of LP,
3.2 gallons of fuel oil, or
131 kilowatt hours of electricity.
The unique
Aquastat Response System of
the Thor minimizes corn consumption, while providing maximum heat
output and efficiency. The Thor has a fully variable automatic corn
feed with complete temperature control. Thor products allow you to
heat a home, shop, barn, livestock buildings, or business for 60-80%
less than the cost of LP or natural gas. Thor 200 Series boilers can
be used to heat multiple buildings or zones. A three speed Grundfos
circulator pump is included with Thor 200 Series boilers.
